Alicia Raia-Hawrylak

Alicia Raia-Hawrylak is a PhD candidate in the department of sociology at Rutgers University. She studies how inequalities in communities and schools shape the experiences of youth, following her experiences as a teacher in two disadvantaged neighborhoods undergoing gentrification. Her dissertation examines how differences in school climates and classroom environments shape variation in peer aggression between and within four high schools, using a mixed-methods approach.
