Marie Morelle

Marie Morelle holds a PhD in geography, has obtained the habilitation à diriger des recherches, is a lecturer at the Université Paris‑1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the research unit PRODIG (Pôle de Recherche pour l’Organisation et la Diffusion de l’Information Géographique – “Research Cluster for the Organization and Dissemination of Geographical Information; CNRS, UMR 8586), and a member of the TerrFerme team and the Inverses programme. Following research into the processes of social marginalization in the city (and more specifically street children in Cameroon and Madagascar), her work has focused on public security policies and prison policies in Cameroon. She is currently developing research on the links between informality, sanctions and urban government, primarily in Africa and secondarily in Europe, (see: www.inverses.org). Lastly, she plays an active role in the construction of a research and teaching network in urban studies in Cameroon, in partnership with the Fondation Paul Ango Ela and the Université de Yaoundé‑1.
