Frédéric Keck

Frédéric Keck is a senior researcher at the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research) and director of the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie Sociale. He has published a series of works on the history of French anthropology in its relations with philosophy. He has conducted ethnographic surveys on a number of animal-health crises : BSE, SARS, “bird flu,” and “swine flu”. His work, at the intersection of the history of science, the sociology of risk, and the anthropology of nature, focuses more generally on standards of “biosecurity” applied to humans and animals, and on the forms of forecasting that they produce regarding global health and ecological disasters.
