Rachid Kaddour

Rachid Kaddour is a geographer and associate assistant lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture (National School of Architecture) of Saint‑Étienne, and a member of the research unit Transformation(s). His research focuses on the future of the urban built heritage of the 19th and 20th centuries, and in particular the processes of urban renewal and of heritage protection. His PhD thesis, Quand le grand ensemble devient patrimoine (“When high-rise housing estates become heritage”), undertaken within the framework of an industrial agreement for training through research (convention industrielle de formation par la recherche; CIFRE) with the Association des Organismes HLM de Rhône-Alpes (Association of Social-Housing Bodies in the Rhône-Alpes Region), was the winner of the Special Prize for a Thesis on Social Housing in 2014, awarded jointly by the USH confederation (Union Social pour l’Habitat – Social Union for Housing) and the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (a French public financial institution).
