Öznur Yardımcı

Öznur Yardımcı is is an urban-studies scholar researching the role neoliberal urbanization plays in realigning state–society relations and citizenship, and in facilitating authoritarianism. She has an interdisciplinary background including a PhD in sociology (Lancaster University, UK), and an MSc in political science and a BSc in international relations (both from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey). She is currently an ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) postdoctoral fellow at the University of York in the Department of Sociology and the Centre for Urban Research (CURB). Prior to that, she worked as the chief field researcher in a London case study in the ESRC-funded research collaboration titled “The Citizenship Futures : Hopes for the Future,” a project led by the Department of Politics at the University of York. Her work has been published in Antipode and the Radical Housing Journal.
