Sam Holden

Sam Holden is an early-career researcher and undergraduate deputy programme lead at Manchester School of Architecture. He completed his PhD in 2022 at the University of Manchester, titled Land, Materials, and Construction Site : Decommodification Through Alternative Construction, which complicates the definition of decommodification and comments on its efficacy as a method of societal change. His research is on analyzing both the historic and contemporary architectural left. His current focus in is more specifically on how the left contributed to the formation of actually existing neoliberalism in the UK. He has also been a part of the Design for Life research project, which produced reports for the Centre for Ageing Better.
